This film is more action orientated then previous film The Princess and The Frog which didn't do to well at the box office and maybe why Disney have decided to make this more action packed and slightly more appealing to the male population. Originally called Rapunzel, Disney reportedly changed the name to Tangled to take it away from the traditional and more feminine story. Both main characters, Mandy Moores feisty Rapunzel and Zachary Levis theif Flynn get good character development and their love story is based more then love at first sight.
Mother Gothel is another classic villain voiced by Donna Murphy. She has no powers to speak of but uses her wit and intelligence to manipulate Rapunzel and others to keep her going. Theirs a scene towards the end involving Mother Gothel which is quite violent and distressing for a family/kids film. This however makes Mother Gothel even more villainous and hated.
Stand out character is police horse Maximus who steals every scene he's in. He's a horse who thinks his a dog and plays off well with Flynn. But this is also a musical and songs created by Alan Menken are both comedic and sincere.
Overall this is another good film from Disney. Its funnier then previous films but you can put this alongside Disney's best work.
